History is Steeped in Tradition

Atwater has become a community influenced by the roots of local agriculture, Highway 99, and the former Castle Air Force Base. Each has influenced the community and remains important fixtures. The City of Atwater is a progressive community when it comes to assisting and cultivating business. The City's growing residential development is spurring commercial investment, construction, and services. Additionally the City has an established history of food processing, farming, and light manufacturing companies.


The City of Atwater will be observing the 64th annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 7, 2015 @ noon.   Location: City Hall - 750 Bellevue Road, Atwater - you are invited to join us.

Garage Sales:  
Garage sales events conducted at any residential dwelling unit, apartment complex, or residential zoned property may only be held on the first and third Friday, and/or Saturday, and/or Sunday of each month.  The time period for conducting the garage sale shall be between the hours of dawn and 4:00 PM including the time for set-up and take-down.  The driveway, yard area, or other space used for the purpose of the garage sale shall be restored to its normal residential character at the conclusion of the garage sale. 

Counter/window hours: 
Finance Counter/Window and Police records - Mon. through Thurs. from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM for citizens to conduct business.  Police emergency services will continue to be provided 24 hours per day. Building Division Window - Monday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Community Development Dept.- Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Consumers shall not irrigate lawn or landscaped areas between the hours of 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM on any day of the week.  Even numbered addresses watering days: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Odd numbered addresses watering days: Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Watering on Mondays prohibited.
